Last year was the first year I attempted to choose “One Word” for my year. I wasn’t always good about remembering it each day, but it was such a helpful project. So…I decided to try it again! You can see a few ways to get started with your One Word here.
My word for 2015 is POUR.
I remember hearing a pastor once say that the word encourage means to “pour courage” into someone–and the visual of that stuck with me. Encouraging others is not always a natural thing to me, because I have a tendency to be critical instead of building others up. I want to “pour” out those negative thoughts and “pour” courage into others!
It will be interesting as we go through the year, because the words we choose can often change form and begin to mean something else (at least that’s what happened last year). I’ve thought of a few ways POUR might apply, but I’m guessing God will use it in much different ways than I planned!
Pour: Pour courage into (encourage) others
“Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.” 1 Thess. 5:11 ESV
Pour: Pour out my heart before the Lord
“Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Selah” Psalm 62:8 ESV
Pour: Pour out wrong-thinking and let God pour in His Words of life
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” Romans 12:2 ESV
Pour: Pour my life out as an offering before Him
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your true and proper worship.” Romans 12:1 ESV
Pour: Let God pour His Love into my heart
“…God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.” Romans 5:5 ESV
I can’t wait to see what God will do through this word in my life! How about you? Do you have one word for 2015?
