If you are on Facebook, I’m sure you’ve seen a similar chalk art activity being shared (it was on a fence though–you can see it here). My friend, Terri, shared how she had adapted the activity on the driveway, and I thought that was a great idea and wanted to give it a try. (Most Fridays, I watch my three nieces (ages 9, 5, and 2), and I’m always trying to come up with things to do.)
When I showed this to the girls (ages 5-13), they were excited to give it a try. They took the tape outside and started right away. They worked together so well, and it turned out beautifully!
Abstract Sidewalk Chalk Art
Supplies:

Step 1:
Make a rectangle with painter’s tape on your driveway or other concrete surface.

Step 2:
Use the tape to make a variety of connecting lines and shapes.

Step 3:
Use sidewalk chalk to fill in each shape. Try to use a variety of different colors in adjoining spaces. The girls used their hands to blend and smooth the chalk.

Step 4:
Remove the tape! Voila! A beautiful piece of abstract chalk art.
Hope you give this a try on a warm day! Let us know how yours turns out!
Great idea for mixed ages!
It was fun!
