This is post five of our 12 Books of Christmas Series:
Many times during the holidays, we feel like we need to keep kids occupied with all kinds of craft projects and activities, but sometimes life gets a little too busy for that. Such is our week. My sister and her two boys (my new little nephew is just a few weeks old!) are visiting, and so all my Christmas craft projects and activities went out the window for a few days.
But it’s totally okay.
It’s all about prioritizing relationships over doing stuff.
With that said, it is nice to have something quick and easy to pull out for the kids to do. I’ve always enjoyed doodling and sketching, but lately, I’ve been into coloring as well. I read an article that said coloring is one of the top stress relieving activities…and since I need as much stress relief as possible, I gave it a try. The girls, of course, love coloring, and I love that all of these new coloring pages and books are quite elaborate and keep them occupied when we are waiting at the doctor’s office, meetings, etc.! 🙂
Anyway, since we’re into coloring around this house, I thought a round-up of Christmas coloring pages for kids AND adults would be an awesome resource for those busy days. Just print them out, put them in a binder or staple them together to make a Christmas coloring book.
(Check out my pinterest board full of Christmas Coloring pages, too!)
If you remember from my first post, The 12 Books of Christmas, I included the book Christmas Tapestry. Patricia Polacco’s artwork is always beautiful, and it made me think about coloring an intricate Christmas coloring page…kind of like a beautifully-colored tapestry.
So, we read the book and started coloring!
If you haven’t read it, Christmas Tapestry is another one of our favorites. Supposedly the story is true, and if so, it’s absolutely amazing…but even if not, it’s still a beautiful Christmas story that will bring tears to your eyes.
More about the book:
“When a leak ruins the sacristy wall in his father’s church, Jonathan Jefferson Weeks thinks Christmas Eve service will be ruined. Luckily he and his father find a beautiful tapestry, perfect for covering the damaged wall and giving the church a festive look! But then, an old Jewish woman recognizes the beautiful cloth. Her discovery leads to a real miracle on Christmas Eve.”
Here is a round-up of Christmas coloring pages for kids and adults so you can get started on your own coloring projects!
